Topic: He Is Not a Man That He Should Lie
Verse: “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” – Numbers 23:19 (KJV)
The believer is called to a life of faith. Romans 1:17 says that “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
It means that as a believer, your walk with God is largely based on faith which makes you believe God and act on His word.
This position of having faith in God’s word and acting on it is achievable when we come to terms with the fact that God cannot lie. You know you can bank on the word of God because God cannot lie and when He says a thing, He does it.
Throughout scriptures, we never witnessed when the problem of the performance of God’s word was because He was incapable of achieving it.
In Isaiah 55:11, the scriptures say “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.“
God reveals to His prophet that His words cannot come back to Him as it must achieve what He sends it for. Furthermore, in Hebrews 4:2, we see why it is important to have faith:
“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.”
So why you should believe the promises of God you find in His word and the ones He says to you?
Because He is not a man that He should lie.
Here’s something to never forget, if God says something about you, His integrity as God is on the line and even if you are a wayward fraction away from being qualified, He is still committed to doing it.
Prayer of the Day
Father, when I doubt You, help my faith. May I not fail to make profit of your word because of my unbelief. Help me to believe Your words and to act in faith when I need to. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
