Happy New Year Family. Welcome to our Year of Prepared Blessings. I believe that God will be bringing us into prepared blessings this year 2025 in the name of Jesus.
Daily Devotional for Today – Begin With God (January 1st, 2025)
The year 2025 is starting today and I believe that you are truly excited to see the first day of a new year. We thank God for how far He has brought us, His mercies and goodness that saw us through the year 2024, and we are privileged to be alive today.
In the midst of the Yuletide, it is important for us to gain wisdom for the new year. Every year, we claim that the year will be our year but many of us do not understand what it takes to make a year as good as it should be.
This is something that we need to clear out – we cannot approach 2025 like other years and expect it to be any different. It is unwise to think that the performance of a certain routine is going to generate a different result from what it has always generated.
It is because of this that we are going to be seeing Wisdom for the New Year as a theme for the first 10 days of this devotional. For the first day, it is only timely that we look at the topic, “Begin With God.”
Scripture Focus: John 15:4
As humans, we crave the desire to be independent. This desire for independence is far from what the Bible makes us to understand about our relationship with God.
God expects us to rely on Him and not do things outside of His will, plan, and purpose for our lives. In sincerity, we will be moving around in futility when we try to do things on our own.
Ecclesiastes 10:15 says that the labor of fools wearies them because they do not know how to go into the city. This can be applied to our lives this year. We might be laboring to make 2025 a fruitful year when all we had to do was to rely on God and begin the year with Him.
This is also what was communicated in Proverbs 3:5-6. If you will make the most out of 2025, you have to begin with God and today is really a good time to do so.
What Does it Mean to Begin with God?
To begin with God refers to surrending to God and His will. I know you have been taught to make New Year resolutions and plans. But then, the best way to make the most out of life is doing the will of God for your life.
To begin with God is to involve God from the start of every step you are about to take. In Psalm 37:5, the Word of God admonishes us to commit our ways to God and He will do it.
One of the many benefits of beginning with God is that He orders your steps. He will guide you to make the right decisions and keep you from making wrong moves.
He will constantly send wisdom your way to help you maximize the year to the fullest. There are so many benefits of beginning with God.
Today, as we celebrate the beginning of a New Year, make a decision to put God first in everything that you hope to do this year. Let Him be aware and not just because you want to satisfy that sense of “I prayed about it” but because you want to surrender to His will for your life about the matter.
Prayer: Father, today and every other day in this year, I pray for the grace to always put you first. I will no longer act on my accord but I will take steps as you order them. Thank You Lord for your help and strength that I have received to run through this year. I shall come out of it triumphantly, in the name of Jesus.
