TOPIC: A Man After God’s Heart

VERSE: “After removing Saul, He made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’” – Acts 13:22

What does it mean to be a man after God’s heart? If we look at David, it’s not about being perfect. David had his flaws—he made mistakes, fell into sin, and struggled with weaknesses. Yet, God called him a man after His own heart. Why? Because David always turned back to God. He repented, sought the Lord with sincerity, and desired to walk in obedience.

A real man is not measured by strength, power, or success but by his pursuit of God. David trusted God completely, whether in battles, in leadership, or in times of failure. He didn’t rely on his own wisdom but sought the Lord in everything. When he sinned, he didn’t make excuses—he humbled himself and asked for mercy. That’s what set him apart. His heart was surrendered.

Being a man after God’s heart means putting God first in your life. It means seeking Him in prayer, obeying His Word, and trusting His ways even when they don’t make sense. It means leading your family with integrity, working honestly, and standing for what is right. It means choosing God over convenience, over pride, over personal desires.

Maybe today, you feel far from being that kind of man. Maybe you’ve made mistakes, and you wonder if God still sees you as His. Let David’s story remind you—it’s not about being flawless. It’s about having a heart that always comes back to God. Will you be that man today?

February 1 Prayer

Father, I want to be a man after Your heart. Teach me to seek You in everything, to obey Your voice, and to walk in integrity. Help me to turn back to You when I fail and to love You with my whole heart. Amen.

February 1 Affirmation

I am a man after God’s heart. My strength is in seeking Him first. My failures do not define me—my pursuit of God does. I lead with integrity and trust in His wisdom. I am chosen by God to walk in His ways.
