Today’s Jesus is Calling Devotional is on A Fresh New Start. The text is from James 1:5 and it teaches us to always see prayer and praying as our first resort when it comes to making new starts or taking new decisions.

When we start something new, it can feel scary or hard. But prayer helps us! Prayer is when we talk to God. It is how we ask for help, guidance, and strength. When we pray, we invite God to be part of our new beginning. It makes us feel stronger and less afraid. Prayer helps us know that God is with us, no matter what happens. He is ready to help us in our new journey.

In the Bible, we see a man named Solomon who asked God for wisdom. Solomon was becoming king, and he needed God’s help. He prayed and asked God to give him wisdom to lead his people. God heard his prayer and gave him wisdom (1 Kings 3:5-14). This shows us that when we ask God for help, He answers. Like Solomon, we can ask God for wisdom and strength when starting something new.

At the beginning of the year, many of us think about starting fresh. We may make new goals or plans. This is a good time to pray. When we pray at the start of the year, we ask God to guide us through it. We also thank Him for the chance to begin again. Praying helps us remember that God is with us in all the new things we want to do. It helps us trust that He will lead us every day.

Dear God, Thank You for giving me a new start. I ask for Your help in everything I do. Please give me wisdom and strength to make good choices. Help me trust You in all my plans this year. I know You are always with me. Thank You for Your love and care. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
