Today’s Jesus is Calling Devotional is on Cultivating New Habits and it is a scripture which focuses on the need to adopt a lifestyle of doing good for the glory of God and the benefit of the people around us.

Bible Verse:
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

Life is full of opportunities to grow and change. God calls us to live a life that reflects His love and goodness, but that often means letting go of old ways and cultivating new habits. At first, it’s not always easy. Changing how we live, think, and act can feel overwhelming. But God is patient with us. He doesn’t expect us to change everything overnight. Instead, He gently guides us, one step at a time, helping us build habits that bring us closer to Him.

Think about a seed planted in the ground. It doesn’t grow into a strong tree in one day. It takes time, water, sunlight, and care. In the same way, the habits we cultivate are like seeds. They need time and effort to grow. Whether it’s praying daily, reading the Bible, or showing kindness to others, each small act is a step toward becoming the person God created us to be.

Sometimes, starting a new habit can feel hard. We might feel tired, discouraged, or tempted to give up. But Galatians 6:9 reminds us not to grow weary in doing good. The reward of sticking to good habits is worth the effort. God sees every small step we take, and He promises that in due time, we will see the fruits of our labor.

Remember, you don’t have to do this alone. The Holy Spirit is your helper. When you feel weak or unmotivated, ask God for strength. He will give you the power to keep going. Don’t be afraid to start small. Even a simple habit, like thanking God for the day when you wake up, can make a big difference over time.

As you go through your day, think about one habit you’d like to start. Maybe it’s speaking kindly to others, being more generous, or spending time with God. Write it down and commit it to Him in prayer. Then, trust God to help you stay consistent. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about being faithful.

Prayer for the Day:

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for Your patience with me as I grow. I want to cultivate new habits that honour You and bring me closer to the person You want me to be. Please help me to stay consistent and not give up, even when it’s hard. Holy Spirit, guide me each day and remind me of Your promises when I feel weak. Thank You for loving me and walking with me every step of the way.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Take heart today. Start small and trust God with the process. Remember, every step you take to cultivate new habits is a step toward a life filled with His peace and joy. Keep going—you’re not alone!
