Today’s Jesus is Calling Devotional is on Embracing Your Identity in Christ and it has a message that seeks to stir us in the direction of understanding who we are in Christ, accepting this new status, and living according to its dictates.

I want you to think about who you are. Not your name or the things you do, but deep down, who you really are. The world may call you many things—strong, weak, successful, or not enough. But those labels don’t matter because God has given you a new identity.
Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” This verse reminds us that when you accept Jesus, your old self is gone. You are now one with Him. His love changes everything about you.
Sometimes, you may feel like the old you is still there. Maybe you remember your mistakes or the times you failed. But Jesus wants you to know that He has wiped all of that away. He doesn’t see your past anymore. He sees His child, forgiven and free.
Isaiah 43:1 says, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” You belong to God now. You don’t have to live trying to prove yourself to anyone. Jesus has already accepted you.
When you wake up each morning, remind yourself of this truth: “I am loved by Jesus. He lives in me, and I live by faith in Him.” This is the foundation of your identity. Even on days when you don’t feel strong or good enough, remember that His strength is perfect in your weakness.
Think about a butterfly. It starts as a caterpillar, and when it changes, it can’t go back to being a caterpillar again. That’s how it is with your life in Christ. You are no longer who you were. You are a new creation.
Today, walk in that truth. When doubts creep in, tell yourself, “I am His.” When challenges come, say, “Christ lives in me.” Let these words shape how you see yourself and how you face the world.
You are chosen. You are loved. You are new. Jesus calls you His own, and nothing can change that.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me a new identity in You. I know that I am no longer bound by my past or by the things the world says about me. Help me to see myself as You see me—loved, forgiven, and chosen. Teach me to live by faith every day, trusting in Your love and guidance. When I feel weak or unsure, remind me that You are my strength and that You live in me. Thank You for calling me Your own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Counsel
Remember that embracing your identity in Christ is a journey. Don’t let guilt or doubt hold you back. When the enemy reminds you of your past, remind yourself of God’s Word: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Surround yourself with people who encourage your faith and speak truth into your life. Keep reading the Word of God and speaking His promises over yourself. With time, you will grow stronger in understanding who you are in Him. You don’t have to do this alone—Jesus walks with you every step of the way
