Jesus is Calling February 1 Devotional
TOPIC: The Depth of God’s Love
VERSE: But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us – Romans 5:8 (AMPC).
We have an idea of God that He is a holy God and He does not behold nor interact with sinners. This is very true. God is holy and any form of sin is an abomination to Him. However, He didn’t need us to change before He showed us how much He loved us.
God was willing to come to us with salvation even when He was not entirely sure we would accept His gift of salvation. It is this show of love that is considered “Greater Love.” That someone could be willing to lay down their lives for people who had the potential to still reject him.
Human love is different. We love when we see something good, when someone treats us well, when there’s a reason. But God’s love? It’s a love that doesn’t make sense by human standards. He didn’t wait for me to deserve it. He didn’t wait for me to reach out first. He made the first move, the biggest move—giving His Son. It wasn’t because I earned it but because He is love itself.
And because of that love, I can stand in grace today. I don’t have to work for it. I don’t have to be afraid of losing it. His love is stronger than my failures, deeper than my doubts, and bigger than anything I will ever face. When the world makes me feel unworthy, I remember that the cross already settled my worth. I am loved beyond measure.
Maybe today, you feel distant. Maybe you think you’ve messed up too much. But if Jesus loved you at your worst, why would He stop loving you now? His love is not shallow. It goes beyond emotions. It is firm, unshakable, and endless. All you have to do is receive it.
February 1 Prayer
Father, I don’t deserve Your love, but You give it anyway. Thank You for seeing me, choosing me, and loving me even when I fall short. Help me to rest in the truth that Your love is unchanging. Amen.
February 1 Affirmation
God’s love is deeper than my doubts. His love is not based on my performance. I am fully loved even at my worst. Jesus’ sacrifice proves I am worth more than I realize. Nothing can separate me from His love.
