Verse: Matthew 22:37-39

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Message:

Jesus speaks about love in a simple way. Love God with everything in you—your heart, your soul, and your mind. This is not just a suggestion, but the greatest commandment. It means putting God first in all things, trusting Him, and living for Him. Many people say they love God, but their actions show otherwise. Real love for God is not just words; it is shown in how we live, obey, and treat others.

The second part of this commandment is just as important: love your neighbor as yourself. That means we should treat people with kindness, patience, and care. Sometimes it is easy to love those who are good to us. But what about those who hurt us, ignore us, or make life difficult? Jesus did not say to love only when it is easy. He calls us to love, even when it is hard.

Loving others does not mean we have to agree with everything they do. It means showing them grace, just as God shows us grace. It means forgiving, just as God forgives us. Love is more than a feeling; it is a decision to act in a way that reflects God’s heart. When we love like this, we bring light into a world that is full of darkness.

Today, think about how you can love better. Start with God—seek Him, listen to Him, and obey Him. Then, look at the people around you. Is there someone who needs your kindness today? Someone who needs your forgiveness? Love is the greatest commandment because it reflects the heart of God. When we love, we live as Jesus calls us to live.
