devotional for today: pray without ceasing

Daily Devotional for Today (January 3, 2024) – Pray Without Ceasing

Scripture Focus: 1 Thessalonians 5:17

One of the ways we can be victorious in life is by joining ourselves to God. The Bible says in. To achieve this, it is expedient for us to pray without ceasing.

Does this mean we should spend our entire time praying?

Nah. That’s not the idea. Nobody can do that really.

To pray without ceasing to maintain an attitude of prayer. That you are dedicating quality time every day to spend in praying with God aside from your time of devotion.

It is also about maintaining a heart that seeks to commune with God. Such that throughout your day you find cracks in your time to just say a word of prayer to God. It could be something as simple as “Thank You Jesus” or “Help me Lord” or praying in the Holy Ghost.

These short bursts of prayers may not look like much but with constant application, they are going to keep you vibrant and on fire especially if you have a busy schedule.

The need for us to pray without ceasing in this year cannot be overemphasized. There are several benefits that we can derive from praying without ceasing.

From the fact that prayer preserves to the fact that we can get wisdom for the year in the place of prayer. There is no way to truly make the most of the year when you don’t pray at the beginning of the year, through the year, and at the end of the year.

If you do not have an active prayer altar, this is a wakeup call to do so. First, I need you to understand that prayer is our means of communicating with God. If we are ever going to reach God and have Him guide us through the year, then we must pray.

Aside from our communication with God, prayer is essential for us to command the year to bring forth good things for us. By prayer and faith, we can say to any mountain “Be removed.” It is through prayer that we find victory over life and its challenges.

With all of these points, there is no reason for you not to begin to pray and not just to pray to engage God all round this year in prayer.

Remember, there is no way to truly make the most of the year when you do not pray at the beginning of the year, through the year, and at the end of the year.

Decide today to cultivate the attitude of prayer, praying without ceasing. Pray to God about your fears, problems, needs, desires, wants, decisions – everything. Pray in the morning, pray in the afternoon, pray at night. Pray when you get a big paycheck, pray when there is no money in your account, pray when you are sad, pray when you are happy. Pray without ceasing.

January 3rd Prayers

These January 3rd prayers are going to help you activate a lifestyle of prayer today and see it through till the end of this year and every other day of your life:

  1. Father, I thank You for your word in today’s devotional. Lord, thank You because it is timely and comes at a time when I can take redress for my wrong attitude towards prayer. I ask that You forgive me and help me from now on.
  2. Father, I pray that You help me realize my dependence on You and why I need to pray so that I will always keep coming to the place of prayer.
  3. Father, teach my heart to trust you when I pray. Teach me to know that you are a God that answers prayers (Psalm 65:2)
  4. Lord, everything that stands as a distraction and continues to prevent me from praying, Lord, I ask that you take them away in the name of Jesus. Amen.
