Topic: The Anchor for Our Souls
Verse: [Now] we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot [a]break down under whoever steps out upon it—a hope] that reaches [b]farther and enters into [the very certainty of the Presence] within the veil, – Hebrews 6:19
The storms of life are not imaginary. There is no one who can deny that at one point or the other, they have not gone through the vicissitudes of life. No words can truly express how terrible these storms are and until one faces them, they may not have the right words to say it.
Christ, the Anchor of our Souls is not just a title but an assurance that when the storms of life come raging, we have someone who cares for us so much.
Our anchor is not tied to shifting ground or shallow waters but is secured in the inner sanctuary of God’s presence where Christ Himself stands as our High Priest, and because it is anchored beyond the reach of the storm, no matter how fierce the wind gets, our stability remains unshaken.
So when times are uncertain, when all hope seems lost, and when you are overwhelmed with the challenges of life, you need to look back inwards and speak with the Anchor of our Souls – Jesus.
Just like the rope tied to the Anchor, we need to stay rooted in God’s words and His promises. Faith in the things that God has said is our access to the Anchor and as much as life rages, there is calm in Jesus.
Prayer of the Day
Father, I ask that you help me to stay rooted in your word and to not be moved by the storms of life. Help me to fix my gaze on You. Keep me from looking at the storms and to focus on You. Amen.
