Topic: When Everything Shakes, God Remains
Text: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer… in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation.” – 2 Samuel 22:2–3 (NIV).
Our world is daily beset by evil and troubles. Job 14 vs 1 says that “Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.” That is the days of mankind on Earth are short and yet they are full of many problems, challenges, and issues.
God’s promises to us has never been of absolute peace with zero chaos. His is the type that brings you peace in the midst of chaos. It is the reason I believe Jesus could be asleep in the boat in Mark 4:37-40.
The disciples had to come to Him with an accusation saying “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
Because how can you be comfortable when we are facing such a storm. Surprisingly, that thing rocking you, making you lose sleep, and letting you feel like your world is crumbling is nothing before our Lord.
Jesus is telling you today that everything shakes but He remains. You see, the storm was threatening but it was no match for Jesus. All the expert fishermen in the boat that day could not use their skills and knowledge to create calm except Jesus, the one who is our solid foundation.
Likewise, the chaos in your life may seem out of order. It may seem like you cannot get a hang over the direction your life is taking. You may be at loss for time or just in a confused state, feeling overwhelmed by how the world is treating you but this is God’s voice for you today – when everything shakes, I am.
All you need to do, like the disciples in the boat, run to the master and let Him calm your storm. Two things can happen: either He walks with you through the storm (Isaiah 43:2) or He calms it for you like we see in Mark 4.
Prayer for the Day
Father, I am at a confused state in my life right now. Lord, I need you so desperately, more than I have ever needed you. I need your help with calming these storms in my life. I trust in your ability of rock of my salvation. May I see your power today. Amen.
