Premature Death

25 Prayer Points Against the Spirit of Death (With Scriptures)

I know what it feels like to be afraid of death as I have experienced it. There are very few things that disturb me and one of them is knowing that a life can be cut short. I have lost three people close to me and their deaths were what you will call premature because they were pretty young.

God is sovereign and yes He can decide to call us home at any point. But the Spirit of Death is capable of taking someone’s life before it is time for them. The devil can afflict someone with sickness or manipulate someone to be in the wrong place ending up taking their life.

Jesus told us plainly that the devil is a murderer (John 8:44).

The good news is that Jesus has defeated death. The only time you are permitted to die is when your Master says so. If you have been experiencing fear, having dreams about dying, then these prayers against the Spirit of Death is all you need to fight that feeling and resist the devil.

Let’s pray.

  • Psalm 118:17: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.”
  • Isaiah 28:18: “And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand.”

5. Hebrews 2:15: “And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
Every fear of death that has held me in bondage, break now by the power of the Holy Ghost. I won’t live each day in terror of what might happen. I receive the peace of God that passes all understanding, and I walk in freedom from today, in the name of Jesus.

6. Isaiah 28:18: “And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand.”
Every covenant with death in my life and my family line, whether made by me or by my ancestors, I declare it disannulled by the blood of Jesus. Every agreement with hell concerning my destiny shall not stand. I’m in a new covenant with God through Christ, and that covenant is life, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Father, I won’t be afraid of the terror by night or the arrow that flies by day. Every arrow of death fired at me in the day or in the night, I command it to miss its target and go back to its sender. Every pestilence walking in darkness, you shall not locate me, in Jesus’ mighty name.

10. Psalm 91:10: “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.”

11. Psalm 34:7: “The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”
O Lord, let Your angels camp around me day and night. Wherever I go, let them go before me, and wherever I sleep, let them stand guard. Let every agent of death that comes near me be confronted by the angels of the Lord, in Jesus’ name.

12. Luke 10:19: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
I take the authority Jesus gave me, and I tread upon every serpent and scorpion of death assigned against my life. I have power over all the power of the enemy. Nothing shall by any means hurt me, my spouse or my children, in the mighty name of Jesus.

13. Matthew 18:18: “Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven.”

16. Job 22:28: “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee.”

17. Isaiah 49:25: “…for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.”
Father, contend with everyone and everything contending with my life. Every power that has vowed I won’t live to see my next birthday, let it face the judgment of God. Save my children, O Lord, and contend with every enemy of their lives, in Jesus’ name.

18. Psalm 27:2: “When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.”
Every wicked power coming to eat up my flesh and drink my blood, stumble and fall now! Let every evil gathering assigned to destroy me scatter in confusion. As they’ve plotted against my life, let them fall into their own trap, in the name of Jesus.

19. Psalm 23:4: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.”
Lord, even when I pass through dark valleys and dangerous seasons, I won’t fear, because You’re with me. Your rod and Your staff comfort me. I’ll walk through every valley and come out alive and victorious on the other side, in the mighty name of Jesus.

20. Psalm 116:8: “For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.”

21. Psalm 103:4: “Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.”

22. John 11:25: “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life.”

23. Revelation 12:11: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.”
I overcome the spirit of death by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of my testimony. My testimony is that Jesus lives, and because He lives, I shall live also. I won’t be silenced, I won’t be cut down, and I’ll continue to testify of His goodness, in Jesus’ name.

24. Isaiah 25:8: “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces.”
Father, swallow up death in victory in my life and in my family. Wipe away every tear the enemy planned for us. Let our story be one of victory upon victory, and let no reproach of death rest upon our name, in the name of Jesus.

25. Psalm 118:17: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.”
Father, I thank You because my prayers have been answered. I shall not die, but live, and I’ll declare Your works in the land of the living. I’ll grow old in Your grace and finish my race with joy. All glory, honour and praise be unto You, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
